Community and Voluntary Sectors (VASLan)

Voluntary Action South Lanarkshire (VASLan) are dedicated to ensuring that the voluntary and community sectors in South Lanarkshire are among the best in Scotland. They help both individuals and groups make the best contribution possible to the strength of the sector while promoting the value of volunteering. In addition to this, they offer a range of services designed to help strengthen communities, from helping young people into work to making sure older people are given the best care possible.

NHS Lanarkshire

NHS Lanarkshire is responsible for improving the health of people living within the council areas of North Lanarkshire and South Lanarkshire. Primary health care is provided in the community and includes general practitioners (GPs), dentists, pharmacists, health visitors and a wide range of health professionals.

Police Scotland

Police Scotland was formally established on 1 April 2013 and is responsible for policing across the length and breadth of Scotland. Police Scotland’s purpose is to improve the safety and wellbeing of people, places and communities in Scotland.

Scottish Enterprise is Scotland's main economic development agency and a non-departmental public body of the Scottish Government.

They work with partners in the public and private sectors to identify and exploit the best opportunities to deliver a significant, lasting effect on the Scottish economy.

Scottish Fire and Rescue

Scottish Fire and Rescue (SFRS) was established on 1 April 2013, bringing together the collective skills and experience from across Scotland’s previous eight fire and rescue services. The SFRS works to protect every community by responding to incidents and also by preventing them from happening in the first place.

Skills Development Scotland

Skills Development Scotland is the national body supporting the people and businesses of Scotland to develop and apply their skills.

Working with partners, they strive to ensure employers have the right skills at the right time in high performing, fair and equal workplaces, and that every individual has the skills and confidence to get a job and progress in the workplace, achieving their full potential.

Other areas of support includes providing career information, advice and guidance and work-based training programmes aimed at building career management skills and forging strong relationships between enterprise and providers of education and training.

South Lanarkshire Council 

The Council is responsible for providing a wide range of services to everyone in the South Lanarkshire area.  Since the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015 came into force, the Council has a duty to making sure people are involved in the decisions made on public services that affect them and a commitment from organisations to work together to provide better public services.

South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnership/South Lanarkshire Integration Joint Board

The Scottish Parliament passed legislation requiring Health Boards and Local Authorities across Scotland to integrate adult health and social care functions.  This is the most significant reform to Scotland's National Health Service and social care service in a generation.  The purpose of integrating these services is to improve the health and wellbeing outcomes of people.

NHS Lanarkshire and South Lanarkshire Council have chosen to integrate services through the establishment of the South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnership.

Since 1 April 2016, the South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnership, a new, legal entity is responsible for planning, commissioning, and overseeing the delivery of integrated health and social care provision, in South Lanarkshire.

South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture

South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture Ltd (SLLC) manages the operation of sports and recreation facilities on behalf of South Lanarkshire Council.  Since October 2010, the remit of SLLC also includes the management of community and town halls, country parks, museums, libraries, Outdoor Resource Base and Arts Development.

Strathclyde Partnership for Transport

Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) is the Regional Transport Partnership for the West of Scotland. SPT’s role involves planning and delivering transport solutions for all modes of transport across the region, in conjunction with their member councils and industry partners. SPT is at the centre of the region’s transport planning; analysing all travel needs and developing the transport system for now and the future.
